Science - Diving into each Planet!

June 17, 2020 - Neptune

(You can read and write your answers in COMPLETE SENTENCES in a notebook OR print out and complete!) Once finished, head over to your Classdojo to submit under "Science - Neptune"!)

May 13, 2020 - Mercury

Now that you learned about the solar system and the order of the planets, each week we will read and answer questions about each planet! First up, MERCURY!! (You can read and write your answers in COMPLETE SENTENCES in a notebook OR print out and complete!) Once finished, head over to your Classdojo to submit under "Science - Mercury"!)

Science:

Planets & The Solar System

(Part I)

I had too much fun listening to these songs! The first song is about the planets. After listening to the song, try to label the order of the planets around the sun!

After labeling the planets, listen to the video again.
Complete a 3-2-1 on a piece or paper or with the sheet below and submit to your class dojo!

Themes of Geography

Day 1 (Part I)
There are 5 themes of geography. What are they? Listen to this Flocabulary video (dance a little too of course!) Use the video to answer some questions! You will probably have to listen a few times just like how you reread before answering a question!

Day 2, 3, and 4 (Part II)

Science Activity:

Phases of the Moon

We have learned that things in life go through cycles! There's the water cycle, plant cycle, and the life cycle. Well...the moon has a cycle too! The cycle of the moon is called its "phases".

Sometimes we can see the whole moon, sometimes our eyes only see a piece of the moon from earth. This is because the phases are caused by the position of three important things: The Sun, Moon, and Earth!

NASA's California Institute of Technology has an awesome Moon Journal Project! Create a moon journal to determine the pattern and phases of the moon:

1) Every night, write the date and time you are looking at the moon.
2) Draw a little picture of what the moon looks like!

**If you can't download and print it, create your own in a notebook!
All you need is the Date, Time, and Picture of what the moon looks like each night!

Things to keep in mind to determine the pattern and phases:
- The journal has to be recorded nightly in order to find the pattern
- Try to record around the same time each night!

After a week and a half of your moon journal, what do you start to notice? Does your Moon Phase (Cycle) look something like this?:

Pretty cool right?! Now, see if you can use the video below to label the moon phases you came across in your Moon Journal!

Moon Joke: How does a man on the moon get a haircut? .... Eclipse it!!

Here's your Exit Ticket: Comment below with what phase the moon was in according to your Moon Journal on March 30th!! :)
